Please enquire about your adventure and we will get straight back to you.
We’ve been enjoying outdoor-fuelled fun for decades to allow us to help you have that same experience. Many of our adventures are chronicled on our blog to give you a sense of our activities. We are driven to have fun – all the time - we just love the mountains and all the games we play there, and we want to share them with you. Plus, we want to make sure that every moment is as amazing as it possibly can be – wishing you’d done something doesn’t get it done, and we believe Mark Twain was right about having no regrets...
"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover."
Pete & Laetitia, Lakeland Mountain Adventures

Mountaineering and climbing can be dangerous and carry an inherent risk of injury or death. Our professional instruction continually undertakes dynamic risk assessment to minimise the level of risk but it is impossible to eliminate risk entirely, nor is it desirable to do so. Objective dangers such as rock fall will occur in the mountains. Participants must understand and accept these risks and take responsibility for their own involvement and actions.
Please note you must be 18 years old or over to book an activity with us.
Instructors hold the appropriate qualification for the activities undertaken. Details of qualifications can be found on the MLTUK site.
Instructors hold relevant First Aid qualifications, carry a first aid kit, appropriate emergency equipment, and have means of communication.
Please ensure you inform us of any medical issues which may have an impact on activities.
Each activity is priced as listed. Costs may be split between the group up to the maximum number of people indicated.
Places are reserved with a 50% (100% if booking within two weeks of the activity date) deposit due on booking with the balance due two weeks before the date of your activity. Payment details will be sent when booking.
In the event of the course fee not being paid in full we may treat the booking as cancelled by the client and attempt to re-sell the place.
- Personal equipment and clothing.
- Other expenses, e.g. lifts, parking, entry fees, etc.
An equipment list appropriate for the booked activity will be issued when booking. In the mean time, a few hints are given on the equipment tab of this page. If you have any queries then please contact us for advice and recommendations.
Mountain Rescue in the UK is provided by a voluntary service and is free to those in need. However, please note that this important charity receives no government support so your support is encouraged in any way you can afford. Insurance is not compulsory but we recommend you take out personal insurance to cover injury, liability, cancellation, or curtailment. The BMC and Snowcard both offer specialised insurance for those involved in outdoor activities.
If you need to cancel you must notify us in writing. Once notified of the cancellation we will try to re-sell your place(s). If re-sold prior to the date of the activity you will receive a full refund less 10% to cover administration. Refunds will be made after the activity date. If we are unable to re-sell your place(s) prior to the activity date you will be charged the following:
- Your deposit if the cancellation is made more than two weeks before the start date.
- The full cost if the cancellation is made less than two weeks before the start date.
Every attempt is made to ensure that activities run as scheduled. However, if we need to cancel the activity for any reason (e.g. unsuitable conditions, weather, or other unforeseen circumstances) we will notify you as soon as possible, and not less than five days before the start date.
In the event of cancellation on our part you may elect to:
- Receive a full refund.
- Re-schedule the activity for a mutually acceptable date.
Your time with us will be much more enjoyable if you have suitable clothing that will keep you warm, dry, and comfortable. The best clothing will depend on a combination of the likely weather, the activity, and your personal preferences. However, it is worth giving consideration to the following:
- A base layer that will 'wick' moisture away from the skin.
- A warm fleece.
- Light weight trousers.
- Waterproof jacket and trousers.
- Hat and gloves.
A well fitting set of walking boots with good grip and ankle support are strongly recommended. Walking socks are also a good option. However, rugged trainers (approach shoes) with good grip and support are also fine if the weather is suitable. If you normally opt for approach shoes, please note that you may require walking boots if the weather is not suitable.
Food and Drink
Please bring a packed lunch, sandwiches or perhaps a pasty are recommended. Treats are always nice to have too! Perhaps a snack bar or two, but please remember that chocolates will likely melt in summer weather. A piece of fruit can also be a great treat.
Remember to bring something to drink. Water (with your favourite cordial flavouring) is great for warmer weather, however please consider a flask (non-breakable) of hot drink, e.g. tea, coffeee, Ribena (!), etc. for a colder weather forecast.
